Mathima develops capability through repeated, appropriately challenging practice, but practice is only the

workable strategy, use that strategy under different conditions and rely on it with less external prompting.

Mathima does not organise tasks into Input-Process-Output. Instead, it uses a five-point Demand Map that
follows the practical decisions a person has to make while completing a task. The map gives practitioners a
shared way to locate cognitive friction without labelling the person as simply distracted, unmotivated or
disorganised.
Mathima’s approach is informed by research on cognitive functioning, learning, self-regulation and the
transfer of strategies into real tasks.
